What we do

The main purpose of the Volunteer Bureau (VB) is to provide transport by car to anyone who is unable to use other means, in particular for medical appointments. It serves the parishes of Burghfield, Mortimer West End, Stratfield Mortimer, Silchester, Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet.

Volunteers use their own cars to take people in need (many of them elderly and infirm) to and from local hospitals, surgeries, dentists, opticians etc. In addition the Bureau organises transport to local day centres for some elderly residents. Passengers are encouraged to make a donation towards the cost of the service.
